Congressional Relations Counsel and Maritime Attorney

American Maritime Congress

Fair Kim serves as Policy Adviser and Counsel of the American Maritime Congress, a trade association representing U.S. shipping companies and a maritime engineering union. A native of Chicago, Fair served in the Coast Guard prior to joining AMC. During his military career, he deployed throughout the Caribbean, South America, West Africa, the Middle East and Afghanistan in a variety of operational and legal billets.

During his final field tour, he served in the patrol squadron that provides security to Coalition oil terminals in the Arabian Gulf and escorts U.S. naval assets transiting the Strait of Hormuz and Horn of Africa. In addition, he deployed to Helmand and Kandahar provinces as supervisor of the detachment that ensured war materiel was properly loaded into shipping containers prior to worldwide redeployment by the DoD.

He served on Capitol Hill as the Legislative Liaison and Counsel to the Coast Guard’s Office of Congressional Affairs, advocating for the Service’s priorities in the NDAA and Coast Guard Authorization Act.

Commander Kim is a graduate of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and the University of Florida School of Law, and is licensed to practice in Florida and Connecticut.
