David leads the Federal affairs efforts at Waymo. David joined the company after twelve and a half years working in the U.S. Senate -- including as Deputy Staff Director of the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, which has jurisdiction over self-driving vehicles. During his time in the Senate, most recently as the committee’s Policy Director for Communications and Technology, he worked extensively on issues where new technologies intersect with regulated industries. In 2019, David was named a Top Lobbyist by The Hill, and in 2011, he was recognized by Politico as an Emerging Leader Who Will Change Tech Policy.

Prior to joining the Senate Commerce Committee, David spent more than five years working for Senator John Ensign, primarily handling transportation and technology issues. Before that, he held a number of positions in the entertainment industry in Beverly Hills, California. David received his undergraduate degree in political science from the University of California, Los Angeles, and lives in Washington, D.C. with his wife, Danielle.
